He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 CSB
Righteousness is the privilege that we have as God’s children to stand before him in fellowship without any sense of guilt or inferiority and condemnation. Jesus died in our place and redeemed us from the curse of the law.
He was made sin for us; by His death on the cross, He destroyed the nature of sin and by His resurrection from the dead, He gave us life and immortality in place of death and corruptibility. Righteousness refers to the rightness of God at work in us who have believed in Jesus Christ.
It means that now in Christ Jesus, we do not struggle to think right, talk right or act right. The Bible says it is God that is at work in us, both to Will and to do of His good pleasure (Philippians 3:13). Your nature of righteousness in Christ helps you live a life that is void of Sin. You need to accept this truth that you can now please God by the way you live.
Little wonder the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 6 verse 14; “for sin shall not have dominion over you…” The believer in Christ now has victory over sin through the nature of righteousness imparted to his spirit at the new birth. God’s righteousness in him makes him always right. God never makes mistakes nor can He tell a lie because it is not a part of His nature of righteousness.
If you will work with this consciousness on a daily basis, you will make the right decisions all the time. You will meet the right people at the right time as a result of your righteous nature in Christ Jesus. It is your responsibility as a believer to allow sin consciousness to be swallowed up by righteousness consciousness
MY FAITH DECLARATION. I am the righteousness of God in Christ. God’s ability to live right, think right, and talk right is at work in me. I have received God’s righteous nature that enables me practice righteous living. Therefore, I no longer struggle to live right or to please God.
I now stand before God without a sense of fear, guilt or rejection. I reckon myself dead to sin and alive to God. The dominion of sin over my life has been destroyed. Christ has completely condemned sin through His death. I was crucified, buried and resurrected with Him to live a righteous and godly life.
I have put on the new man who was created in true righteousness and holiness, and now I’ m bold to fellowship with my heavenly Father knowing I am righteous in His sight. Glory to God!
