|I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:16, 25.|
To walk in the Spirit simply means to be led by the Spirit. The Spirit of God is resident in your spirit and leads you by the truth of God’s Word. Your responsibility is to acknowledge Him and yield your entire being to Him. God intends for you to live victoriously each day and that’s only possible by the help of the Spirit of God that indwells you. Don’t go through life as a believer strategizing your every move with human philosophy while you have the Holy Spirit in you. Human intelligence has never and will never deliver to you good Success. It takes the intelligence of the Spirit to perpetually sustain you in the path of victory. Some Christians enjoy success as often as they record losses. That ought not to be so. God’s desire for you is to win all the time not sometimes. That doesn’t connote lack of challenges or temptations; it means that as you walk in the Spirit, you will always discover the escape route to every trouble of life. The Bible says no temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. Yield yourself to the Spirit daily. Never submit your life to your senses, emotions or to the opinions of others. Truly the flesh profits nothing. Live by the Word.
David’s experience in 1 Samuel 23:1-1 2 is quite inspiring. Not long after David assisted the people of Keilah to defeat their enemies, Saul came after David to the City of Keilah solely to kill David. But because David was a man of the Spirit he refused to act based on assumptions, although it seemed logical for David to expect the men of Keilah to defend him from Saul having helped them gain victory over the Philistines. David consulted God about the matter, and God who knows that the hearts of some men are desperately wicked revealed to David that the same people he helped will hand him over to Saul. Here’s David’s consultation with God, “O Lord God of Israel, Your servant has certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to destroy the city for my sake. Will the men of Keilah deliver me into his hand? Will Saul come down as Your servant has heard? O Lord God of Israel, I pray, tell Your servant.” And the Lord said, “He will come down.” Then David said, “Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?” And the Lord said, “They will deliver you.” Life has been very tough and mysterious for some because they constantly reject God’s way of doing things. Romans 8:11 says those who allow themselves to be led by the Spirit are God’s children. You can save yourself from a heart breaking disappointment by listening to the voice of the Spirit.
God has given you the privilege to chart the course of your life without any fear of failure, losses, shame, defeat, rejection, or disaster just by aligning yourself to the workings of the Spirit. He will lead you away from evil, divert your attention from the wrong relationship, career, business, etc and lead you through the path of peace and prosperity. Walking in the Spirit is God’s strategy to help you live in His glorious Will for your life.
PRAYER: Thank You dear heavenly Father for the gift of Your Holy Spirit to me. I yield myself to Him and He leads me daily through the paths of victory, peace and prosperity in Jesus’ name, amen.
