|But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works. Romans 4:5-6.|
The Righteousness of God is a gift that we receive by faith in Jesus. It is not something we obtained by our good behaviors or from being self righteous. It is God’s nature that He imputes on every new creature in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” By your faith in Jesus, you have been recreated in Christ with the life of God in you. The ability (grace) to live righteously stems from your new nature. Only those who have received the nature of righteousness by faith can please God. Faith in Jesus is what pleases God not self righteousness. Some Christians are working so hard to please God without acknowledging God’s gift of righteousness by faith in Christ. They are just like the Jewish people that the Apostle Paul prayed for in Romans 10:1-3, “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
Walk in the consciousness of your nature of righteousness and take advantage of God’s abundant grace to live righteously. Don’t ignore the gift of Christ in you. Righteousness is the ability to stand before God with no sense of guilt or inferiority complex. It is the rightness of God. It is not a set of rules and regulations, but a divine ability to please God. From Romans 5:17, we understand that the gift of righteousness qualifies us to live a kingly life on earth. “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” That’s God’s Will for the new creature in Christ. He wants you to dominate every circumstance of life, to reign victoriously on earth as the king He has made you in Christ. Defeat, failures, sicknesses and diseases are not in your kingly nature. Refuse to accept them into your life. Take charge of your life and never crumble like a pack of cards in the face of adversities. Where the Word of a king is there is power. So use your words to demand what you desire.
Christ was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification. Christ already paid both for your sins and justification by His death and resurrection. Stop trying to please God through self righteousness. The rightness that God demands is a product of your faith in Christ only. Romans 3:-21-22 says, “But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed… even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.” Acknowledge the gift of God’s righteousness in you and receive abundance of grace to live righteously.
PRAYER: Thank You Father for the gift of righteousness. By my faith in Christ I have been declared righteous. I receive abundance of grace to live righteously in Jesus’ name, amen!
