” if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17
A lot of believers never really get over the pain of their past mistakes in time and that attitude really slows them down in life. It is important that you do not allow the memories of past mistakes interfere with your walk of faith.
Now that you are in Christ you are a completely brand new species. Your past no longer counts! God has no record of it. Christ has become your righteousness and you have also received the gift of righteousness by your faith in Christ.
Righteousness is of faith not of works. It is a divine nature that the Holy Spirit imparts to you at new birth; when you received Jesus as Saviour and Lord over your life.
Romans 3: 22 says, “…the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe…” You have been graced with the ability to stand before God without a sense of guilt, condemnation and inferiority complex.
Righteousness is the rightness of God at work in the believer. Have you ever heard that God made a mistake? Of course not. Why is that so, because of his nature of righteousness. That’s the exact nature you now have in Christ. The rightness of God is now at work in you. You now have what it takes to live right, talk right, act right and think right because the rightness of Christ has been imparted into your recreated spirit.
Understanding thiscspiritual realuty will help you make a success of your life, especially when you are always conscious of it. In Philippians 3:13 Apostle Paul says, “…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.” You really have to be intentional in breaking the hold of past memories of sins.
Learn to relate to the memory of your past like the Apostle Paul did with His, until the memories fade and no longer hurt. He acknowledged that he has been forgiven and declared righteous.
Read how he speaks of his past: “Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 1 Timothy 1:13 KJV. Just like Paul, you have obtained mercy, but much more, you have been declared not guilty.
Your sins were not only forgiven, you were recreated with the very life of God in your inward man. Refuse to be sin conscious. Instead keep confessing that you are the righteousness of God in Christ and sin has no dominion over you. Consider yourself to be dead to sin and your relationship to it broken, but alive to God in unbroken fellowship with Him in Christ Jesus.
Sin consciousness hinders consistent fellowship with the Father but righteousness consciousness strengthens your fellowship with the Lord and allows your faith grow steadily. As long as you acknowledge the truth about your righteous nature in Christ, you will be able to present your body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1 KJV).
God’s desire is for you to dominate every circumstance and win. He wants you to live for Him, daily expressing the virtues and perfections of Christ. That’s why He graced you with the gift of righteousness by your faith in Christ Jesus.
PRAYER: Thank You Father for gifting me with the nature of righteousness by my faith in Christ. I chose to live with this consciousness of righteousness and I enjoy a rich and consistent fellowship with You in Jesus’ name. I refuse to be tormented by the memories of my past sins. I will not allow memories of my past mistakes to negativeively interfere with my present. I refuse to allow my past interfere with my future. I’m a new creation in Christ with the nature and ability to talk right, think right and act right in Jesus name.
