Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. Philippians 4:6 NET

Thanksgiving is a great antidote to anxiety and depression. In thanksgiving, we focus on the goodness and great abilities of God. A depressive heart and mind fails to acknowledge the power of God to intervene but is overwhelmed by needs, fears and uncertainties.

Throughout the  scriptures we are admonished to be thankful. Thanksgiving is an integral part of our culture as Christians. We can be thankful in the face of adverse circumstances. Our opening verse tells us to be thankful instead of worrying.

At the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus prayed in thanksgiving… So they took away the stone. Jesus looked upward and said, “Father, I thank you that you have listened to me. John 11:41 NET

We can be thankful before the manifestation of our Miracles and desires of our hearts. Jesus gave thanks before the miracle of feeding the five thousand occurred ( John 6:11 NET).

Thanksgiving is an act of faith and obedience. Both faith and obedience produce the fruit of peace. If you want the peace of God to flood your heart then develop the attitude of gratitude. Colossians 3:15 say, ‘let the peace of Christ be in control in your heart (for you were in fact called as one body to this peace), and be thankful.’

Thanksgiving is a principle of success that we must operate if we intend to continue experiencing God at work in our lives. We must learn to overflow with thanksgiving in every season of life. We make God a proud Father and by our attitude of thanksgiving we demonstrate that we are mature sons of God.
