Imagine working for someone for twenty years, and the person refuses to pay you for all your years of labour instead, he plans to retire you without a dime! Sounds cruel right? That will never be your portion in Jesus’ name. But that was the experience of Jacob with Laban, his boss and Father-inlaw. In Genesis 31:42 Jacob spoke up, “Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.” God saw the injustice done to Jacob and organised a send forth reward for him.
The Bible says, “For God, the Faithful One, is not unfair. How can he forget the beautiful work you have done for him? He remembers the love you demonstrate as you continually serve his beloved ones for the glory of his name.” Hebrews 6:10. God rewards every service rendered in His name. He never forgets your labour of love. Whether in soul winning, hospitality, praying for others as an intercessor, helping your pastors in church in any capacity, encouraging the saints etc, God is keeping a good record of your investments in His Kingdom. God is not like Laban. He definitely will reward you. So, keep up the good work.
Joseph had a similar experience as Jacob. He was forgotten for two whole years by someone he helped, but at the appointed time God remembered him, and he was brought out of prison. His good work eventually paid off. Have you invested so much in your church, a relationship, a business or career, and you are wondering if it was really worth it. Yes it was, especially if you did it with the intention of advancing the kingdom. There is a reward both in this world and in that which is to come. Peter was also concerned about his reward having given up everything for the sake of the Gospel. Here is Jesus’ response to him, ” “Listen to my words,” Jesus said. “Anyone who leaves his home behind and chooses me over children, parents, family, and possessions, all for the sake of the gospel, it will come back to him a hundred times as much in this lifetime—homes, family, mothers, brothers, sisters, children, possessions—along with persecutions. And in the age to come, he will inherit eternal life.” Mark 10:29-30 TPT
Like Abraham, you have need of patience. Abraham waited patiently in faith and succeeded in seeing the promise fulfilled.
Stay focused and continue to be a blessing in your local assembly and where ever you find yourself knowing that your labour is not in vain. The Bible says in Galatians 6:9-10 TPT “… don’t allow yourselves to be weary or disheartened in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming! Take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to your brothers and sisters in the family of faith!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I take advantage of every opportunity to minister to the saints in Jesus name. Amen.
